Web of the Month: Wedding Video (Svatební Video)
July 6th, 2013Jiří Májek started making videos when, a short way away from his home, a Czech movie called Inheritance was being filmed. Soon after, he bought a camera, started shooting his own films, and ventured into shooting weddings and various cultural events. In 1999, he founded his own film studio and decided he wants to have his own website.
“At that time, not having Internet at home was a usual phenomenon,'” explains Jiří. But he believed that the Internet will come with time. “Thanks to the Internet, any business can be more efficient. Who doesn’t have a website today, seems to not exist,” he says.
His company is doing well, and because a large part of his business consisted of just shooting weddings, he embarked on creating a special website just for wedding films. He was looking for a CMS which gave him full control of his website, but always found programs which required him to get outside help. Until one day, a fellow cameraman suggested Webnode. Jiří tried it – and was satisfied. He says: “I was interested primarily in its simplicity and the fact that I have a whole site in front of me that I can work in directly.”

He shoots about 40 weddings a year, going to Slovakia and neighboring countries. “At weddings, what I especially enjoy, is working with people,” he explains. “I try to capture the natural emotion, beauty and joy of all involved so that they have the memory of their special days for years after.“
His greatest achievement is primarily that he can do the job that he enjoys and is content. “I like traveling, and through my work I explore new places and new people. A wise man once said: ‘Find a job you love and never work a day in your life.‘ This is 100% my case.” To all who would like to follow in his footsteps, he gives this advice: “Choose a field of activity that you enjoy. Be patient, and customers will surely find you.“
