Quick Tip: Favicon – A Small Icon with a Big TaskMay 9th, 2012
Favicons are small icons that in most cases, represent the logo of an organization or institution. With the appearance of the browser tab, this icon now has a vital function. At a minimum of 16 x 16 pixels, favicons ensure that your site is always recognized by visitors.
You can immediately create this useful icon in two ways. Use one of your images (e.g.: a logo) or draw your own favicon. Convert it to .ico and then load it on your site.
The correct dimensions of favicons are 16×16 pixels. On free sites like favicon.cc, generatefavicon.com or freefavicon.com, you can convert your image into the appropriate format with the correct size. (Be careful, do not try to convert an image file to .ico, this method will not work).
Creating a favicon using the tool favicon.cc
Then save the favicon created on the computer and insert it into your website in the way shown in the following tutorial: Changing page icon (Favicon).
