Using Webnode

I've forgotten my login e-mail, what should I do?

The page http://www.webnode.com/lost-e-mail-address/ will help you find out your login e-mail. You need to know the project name and the correct password.

I can't login to my project, what's wrong?

The way to sign in to the Webnode system is changed since 17^th May 2008. Please use your e-mail address as a username to sign in. If you use the old username (the project name) to login and if you enter the correct password, then the system will display the e-mail address, which you should use as username to login.

You state that the service you provide is free but will it be free forever?

Yes, Webnode will always be available for free.

Can I use third party web statistics (like Google Analytics) with my Webnode website?

Yes. Put the code in the webpage footer. Double click on the copyright text in the footer and paste the code in the dialog.

I want to use my Webnode website for e-commerce (shop). Is it possible?

Yes. Feel free to sell anything you want (as long it complies with your local laws).

When trying to enable e-mail I get a message that it's only available in the Professional version. What is that?

Hey, you state that Webnode is free. Where can I download the source?

Webnode is a free service, but the source code is private and cannot be downloaded.

Can I download the HTML code generated by Webnode and publish it on my own webserver?

Yes, you can do this by using your own HTTP downloader program (Note: all active content like polls and forums will not work as the code you download will just be static HTML without the Webnode system that supports it).

How do I change the template of my website?

Click on the “Layout options” icon on the toolbar. The template list is now available.

Activation and account questions

How do I change my user login (sign in) name?

This isn’t possible. Your username is part of your website’s URL. (http://myusername.webnode.com).

I haven’t received the activation e-mail yet. What now?

Please, follow this guide http://www.webnode.com/activation-troubleshooter/.

I lost my password. What now?

No problem. Change your password here: http://www.webnode.com/new-password/. The system will generate a new password and send it to you by e-mail. You must remember the username and e-mail you used during sign up. If these don’t match our database data, then the e-mail will not be sent and the password will not be changed. If you don’t remember your e-mail and username, we’re sorry but we can’t help you.

I lost my username. What now?

Write an e-mail to support@webnode.com using the e-mail you specified during sign up or send us your web project address using any e-mail address. We’ll help you to find your username.

How can I delete my account?

Users cannot delete their accounts.If you don't want to use your project, just leave it and system will deactivate it automatically after some time of inactivity.

Domain, URL and DNS questions

How do I change my Webnode URL?

You cannot change your Webnode URL but you can run your Webnode website on your own domain (e.g. www.mydomain.com).

Can I use my domain (www.mydomain.com) with my Webnode website?

Yes. Use the Domain name management tool in your Webnode administration page and follow the instructions in the wizard.

Where do I perform the DNS changes that the domain manager told me to do?

Contact your domain registrar (the company you paid for your domain). They should have a web application where you can do this.

I’ve changed the DNS settings for my own domain and there is no effect. What’s wrong?

You should wait for the DNS system to update worldwide. This may take up to 24 hours.

Can I change the URL of the page (article etc.)?

Yes. Open the page in the Webnode builder, click on the “Properties” icon in the toolbar. Edit the “Web address” field as you wish.

Feature questions

Can I create and edit forms with Webnode?

Not yet, but we are working on this feature and we will release it soon. In case you need forms in your website right away, use third party services like http://www.wufoo.com and add the form to the page as a widget.

I’ve got problems with the text I copy and paste from Microsoft Word (or any other WYSIWYG text editor). It doesn’t look good or I see some code in with it.

In this case you should rather format your text with the styles available in the Webnode’s WYSIWYG editor.

How do I add a shopping cart to my website?

You can use widgets to do this. We support PayPal, Google Pay and WorldPay in the system. You can add any other third party cart to your website if it is a widget.

Can I interchange pages, articles and items?

No. These component types cannot be swapped around. They are discreet parts.

Professional edition questions

Give me some info about your Professional edition.

The Professional package contains e-mails, more storage space (Webnode currently offers 100 MB for free) and more bandwidth (5 GB for free). The professional package and the price aren't available yet, but will be soon. Please stay tuned to webnode.com for further news.

Creating content

Can I use an animated flash banner on my website instead of a website image?

Yes this is possible, but it is not easy. You must download the template codes, edit the layout’s HTML and replace the website image with your flash banner. Please wait for the template guide to be released. You will find info here on how to do this.

Can I paste flash animation on my website?

Yes, but it is a little bit complicated. We are working on a simplification of this process.

1. Upload your flash file to the system.
2. Open or add “Text and images” to your website.
3. Add a link to the flash file in the WYSIWYG editor by selecting the “Insert file” icon.
4. Switch the WYSIWYG editor to HTML mode by clicking on the right most icon in the toolbar.
5. Find the URL of your flash file and copy it to the clipboard.
6. Prepare the HTML code necessary for Flash and paste the URL into this code to appropriate location.
7. Use Widgets -> Embed code from the Webnode toolbar to add a widget to the page.
8. Paste the HTML code with the Flash object in the Embed code dialog.

Can I add a flash intro to my Webnode website?

Yes this is possible, but it is not easy. You must download the template codes, add the layout variant which contains your flash intro codes and set this variation to the home page. Please wait for the template guide to be released. You will find info here on how to do this.

Miscellaneous

Is there any help section or tutorial available online?

Not yet, but we are working on it and we’ll publish it soon.

Do you support SEO?

Yes. Use the page (article etc.) properties where you can edit the description and keywords. Edit the website header (in the “Layout options”) and change the title of the website (website name).

Can I modify meta tags like keywords, description?

Yes, you will find this in the page (article etc.) properties.

I’ve registered a Webnode website, put together content, set the keywords and now I’m trying to search for my site with Google, Yahoo etc. but with no luck. What’s wrong?

Basically, you need as many back-links pointing to your website as possible. After the search engine discovers your site by finding links to it from other sites, which are already indexed, your pages can then be displayed in the search engine list. Please find some information about search engines, how they work and SEO (Search Engine Optimization). We can’t force Google to display your website.
